Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas family and friends! This year was better than ever. Nana, Papa and Aunt Abby made their way down from Iowa on Christmas Eve. We enjoyed some cookie decorating together and hanging out. We went to Christmas Eve church service, where I was in the live nativity scene. I was a golden star! I basically had to stand for about 20 minutes and wave a star on a stick around. It was fun and I'm sure I made mom and dad a little nervous when the "live" baby Jesus stood in front of me. No worries I made sure to keep the moving star away from the baby's face. Then we headed off to a family dinner and back home to open one gift before the big day. I had to be quick as Santa was on his way so it was off to bed. I left Santa a sweet treat, sprinkled the lawn with reindeer food and drifted off to sleep.
I was up bright and early and headed downstairs for the big day. I was so excited as Santa left me several goodies off my list. The batman cave, batman action figure and legos were just a few of my favorite goodies. Guess what Aunt Abby and nana/papa bought me......trampoline! A BIG one for outside. We have to wait until the weather is better to put it together. I can't wait to bounce around on that thing! It was a great day filled with presents, memories, giving, eating and just hanging out!
The next day we headed to Lebanon to visit with Mimi and cousins. I was super pumped and couldn't wait to get there. The weekend consisted of another Christmas gathering with presents again...love that part. More legos to build, remote control car, and a robot! I tell you I really like all these new toys. The next 2 days we spent together playing around and went to a children's museum, which was really neat. I enjoyed exploring all the experiments with my cousins. I was sad when Tuesday arrived and we had to head back home. We spent the rest of the week hanging out as a family and trying out all of my new goodies. What a great holiday 2010 was! I appreciate my family for traveling, spending some special time together and making memories. I also learned this Christmas that it's not just about presents, but giving as well. I donated some of my piggy bank money to the salvation army ringers and even bought gifts for my extended family at Santa's workshop. Happy holidays and happy 2011!

Cookie Exchange

What 3 better ways to celebrate the holiday season than a cookie exchange, Santa and a room full of girls. One of my mom's students from her class invited us over to their house for a cookie party. What a fun time! We decorated sugar cookies, yum-O and then had a little visit with Santa. Then we enjoyed some play time with some very sweet 5-6 year old girls. I was the only boy and loved every second of it!

Breakfast with Santa

Guess who I ate breakfast with today.....Santa! I was so excited to sit on his lap and let him know all the things I needed for Christmas. The list was rather long this year so we will see what he brings in a few weeks. I even did a little shopping for my family members on my OWN in Santa's Shop!

Guess What?

Exciting news to share in the Herriman house....I'm going to be a BIG brother. Baby Herriman is coming late May. This time mom and dad have decided to not find out what they are having. I wonder boy or girl?

Happy Halloween

Nana and Papa came for a Halloween weekend visit. We started the weekend off with some yard work and I was more than happy to help. Dad and papa needed to trim up the landscaping so I helped carry off the limbs. It was a tough job as I had to load them into Papa's truck. The work paid off as I enjoyed some trick or treating the next night. Papa even dressed up as Father Time. He was bit scary at first and mistaken for many other characters. This year I dashed from house to house collecting lots of treats. It was a chilly night and I had school the next day so only a few rounds we had time for. We headed back home and I loved passing out candy, but that was short as we ran out. This was a big year for the "treaters" so next year we need to stock up. I was more than happy to share a few of my treats, but not too many.

Turkey Time

Today is yummy turkey dinner. Aunt Kim and Uncle Shawn invited us for a feast at their house. I'm super excited since I will enjoy some play time with my cousins.

Louisburg Cider Mill

Fall is here and that means PUMPKIN PATCH time. This year we decided to venture out to the Kansas side and visit the Louisburg cider mill and pumpkin patch. This was an exciting place. I started off the day with playing in the teepees and sandbox. Then we went on a hayride. I was thirsty so I tasted some homemade root beer. WOW, what a yummy treat! I think I found a new drink, but only on special occasions. Mom and dad don't like me to have "dark, sweet, soda" too much. Not fair! I did manage to convince them that I needed s six pack for the rode! We ended the day with a tour of the cider mill. We watched how cider was made, cider apple donuts and candy apples. It was all soooo yummy! The donuts were my favorite. What a fun trip!

Gladfest 2010

Today the family headed out to Gladstone, MO for an outdoor carnival/festival. We spent most of our time enjoying the rides. My favorite was the giant potato sack slide. I just could not get enough of it. I also took a spin on the cars.

Soccer

I have been begging mom to sign me up for soccer. Tonight I had my first practice and it was a blast. It's only four times and then we play a game at the end. I was also excited to have my friend, Will on my team. I'm the blue team and we get to rotate stations to complete different skills that help us learn how to play soccer. My favorite station was kicking the ball into the soccer net and scoring a "goal"!

Deanna Rose

Today the family headed out to Deanna Rose Farmstead with Mimi and cousins. It was safety day so we spent some time looking at fire engines, police cars and I saw the Children's Mercy helicopter take off...that was fun! Then we ventured through the farm to see all the great attractions. I enjoyed milking the cows and riding the tractors. Then I stopped off at the bank and picked up a map, which was my favorite. I was able to navigate myself through this huge farmstead. We saw goats, owls, chickens and turtles. We ended the day with a slide ride at the playground. It was a great day!

Adventure Oasis

As the summer is coming to an end the Herriman family is trying to squeeze in as much fun as they can. Today dad was off so we headed to a waterpark called Adventure Oasis. I loved every drop of it, except for the hot, very hot, pavement. It was only 102 today! I was super bummed when I was not tall enough to ride the gaint water slide, but had a geat time in all the other park areas. I wonder where tomorrow will take us?

St Pete Beach-Summer Vacay 2010

We just ended our family vacation to St Pete Beach in Florida. It was a great time. This was my first time to fly on a plane and see the beach. I must say before I even left KC I was very nervous about flying and wanted no part in the beach. I was afraid that "gators" were going to attack me! I was sure wrong! Flying was fun and I had to have the window seat(although I didn't want the window shade up). The beach was beautiful, but the water was very salty. I preferred playing in the sand and enjoying the pool water. One day we met up with one of mom's co-workers who was also vacationing with her family. It was fun to hang out with new friends. They made me feel right at home. We spent our days at the beach and ventured out at night. We ate some yummy seafood and went on a pirate ship cruise. This will be one week to remember and a special one with my family.

VBS

This week I went to vacation bible school. I had a great time learning about Jesus and meeting new friends. I even had two friends in my class that I already knew (Will and Max). I especially loved my teacher, Bailey. I can't wait until next year!

Nana and Papa's House

Last week I spent some time with Nana and Papa. I had a great time and they kept me very busy. I went fishing for the first time. I was little worried about touching the worms and fish. I didn't understand why we had to throw the fish back into the pond. I went on some tractor rides, 2 trips to story time at the library, sparklers and go-carts with Aunt Abbie. It was a fun week filled with new adventures and special memories. Thanks Nana, Papa and Abby for making my week extra special. See you soon!
